Eulogies mostly skirt controversy
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIn their eulogies, Netanyahu and Peres made no mention of the two most controversial events linked to Sharon — the Lebanon War including the Sabra and Shatila massacre, and the disengagement from the Gaza Strip.
Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein does mention the disengagement in his eulogy, noting the controversy that the move generated and saying that although “It’s no secret our paths parted… I will never let that rift erase his contribution.”
He says Sharon was “always a warrior, always original, with nerves of steel.”
