Despite gag order, COGAT tweets photo of Jerusalem attacker
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) tweets a photo of the terrorist who shot dead two people in an attack in Jerusalem this morning, despite a police gag order on publishing his photo or identity.
He was identified as a 39-year-old from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan but his name and photo were under the court-imposed gag.
In 2013, the gunman was indicted for assaulting a police officer in Jerusalem’s Old City. The case was dropped that year, but it was reopened in 2015.
The East Jerusalem resident was convicted and sentenced to four months in prison, to begin today.
