Senior ultra-Orthodox journalist arrested for holding suspected pedophilic material
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA senior Haredi journalist has been arrested on suspicion of possessing pedophilic content.
Police say they arrested the suspect, a 58-year-old man, this morning at his home in Kiryat Yearim, an ultra-Orthodox town west of Jerusalem.
Officers who searched his house seized his laptop and cellphone.
The suspect will be brought today to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court for an extension of his remand as investigators continue to probe the case, police add.
The suspect, who is not yet identified ahead of his hearing, is variably described in Hebrew media reports as the editor of, or a senior reporter at, a well-known newspaper in the ultra-Orthodox world.
