Egypt said to suspend gas import talks with Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleEgypt is suspending all negotiations with Israel on gas imports from the Jewish state’s offshore reserves after Cairo is ordered to pay Jerusalem nearly $2 billion earlier on Sunday, Bloomberg reports.
Egypt plans to appeal Sunday’s decision — forcing it to compensate Israel with $1.76 billion for halting gas supplies in 2012 — and is seeking to hold off on any agreements with Israeli gas companies until the results of the appeal are in, the report says.
