Herzog: Ben-Eliezer was a ‘brave warrior’ and ‘good friend’
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleOpposition head and chair of the Israeli Labor Party Isaac Herzog responds to the death of former party chair and long-time colleague Binyamin “Fuad” Ben-Eliezer.
He was “a lone kid from Iraq, a brave warrior that finished his military service as a brigadier general and went on to an impressive political career, reaching the positions of defense minister and chair of the Labor Party,” Herzog says in a statement.
“Recently, I spoke with him at length about the cloud that hung over him [regarding accusations of fraud] and he always repeated that he was innocent,” he adds.
“We say good-bye to a good friend to so many for many years.”
