Honduras’s conservative president-elect, Nasry “Tito” Asfura, will arrive in Israel for a visit on January 17, two government offices tell The Times of Israel.
He will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar during his visit.
Asfura, of Palestinian Christian descent, is expected to improve ties with Israel after four years of leftist rule.
He will be sworn in on January 27.
Israel’s prospects in Latin America have improved in recent months, with a right-wing government coming to power in Bolivia and the US capturing Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro, a close ally of Iran.
