The Foreign Ministry is requesting assistance from Greece, Cyprus, Italy, France, and other regional countries for help in fighting a massive forest fire outside Jerusalem.

A statement from Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s office says he spoke with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, asking him to send firefighting planes. Dendias said Greece would help as much as it can, according to the statement.

Lapid also speaks with the head of the Israel Fire and Rescue Services to hear what is needed.
