Israel’s chief rabbi: Jews cannot ignore genocide in Syria

Israel’s Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef tells a meeting of Israeli and Palestinian religious leaders that the Jewish people cannot remain silent about the genocide in Syria.

“As we sit here, men, women and small children are being murdered in neighboring Syria, and especially Aleppo, by biological and chemical weapons and bombing from the air,” he says, according to the Walla website. “Millions of refugees are homeless, hundreds of thousands of others are starving under siege. They are not our friends, but they are humans who are undergoing a small holocaust.

“I would like to use this platform to say, that as Jews we must not be silent, and from here we say: Genocide cannot be ignored, not in Syria or anywhere or against any people, even if they are not our friends.”
