Jewish man held for insulting Islam on Temple Mount

A Jewish man has been detained on the Temple Mount for making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad to Muslim worshipers on the holy site, Israel’s Army Radio reports.

According to Israeli news site Walla, the man called Muhammad “a pig” to Muslims who were shouting in his direction as he left the site.

The incident follows the arrest of two other Jewish visitors to the site earlier in the day for praying and disturbing the peace, police say. Jews are allowed to visit the site, considered the holiest in Judaism and third holiest in Islam, but are prohibited from praying.

In July, low-level clashes were sparked in Jerusalem after a woman was shown on tape calling Muhammad “a pig” as she left the Temple Mount.
