Memorial Day ceremonies at Israel’s military cemeteries will be held in accordance with Home Front Command wartime restrictions due to ongoing security concerns, the Defense Ministry says, and some may be prerecorded.
The guidelines are expected to be finalized shortly before the day itself, which begins at sundown on April 20.
State ceremonies, which generally draw large crowds, will be filmed in advance and broadcast on TV and digital platforms if in-person events cannot take place, the ministry says, in order to allow the public to participate and commemorate the fallen.
Gatherings are currently restricted to 5,000 attendees in some areas of the north, the West Bank, Jerusalem and the south. In central Israel and other areas of the north and the West Bank, gatherings are restricted to 1,000 people.
