Netanyahu hails close US ties amid spat with American Jewry
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hails Israel’s strong democracy and its close ties to the US, amid a spat with US Jewry over his government’s recent moves on the Western Wall and conversion.
At the start of the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu extends Fourth of July greetings, saying Israel was also “celebrating the festive day of the strongest democracy in the world, our greatest friend – the United States.” He adds that Israel’s “alliance with it is strengthening.”
Netanyahu also says many European leaders who he spoke to during during his weekend trip to Germany for the funeral of late chancellor Helmut Kohl expressed a “very warm and friendly” attitude toward Israel.
