Netanyahu said to defend Saudi crown prince amid Khashoggi fallout

Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed support for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman amid growing criticism of the young leader over the killing of a Saudi journalist in Istanbul, The Washington Post reports, telling Trump administration officials he is a strategic partner in the Middle East.

Netanyahu has refrained from publicly weighing in on Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, which has brought down heavy international criticism on Saudi Arabia.

Though Israel and Saudi Arabia do not have diplomatic ties, both country’s view Iran as the main security threat in the region and reportedly cooperate behind the scenes.
