A recent drone strike in central Gaza’s Nuseirat killed Ismail Nofal, reported to be the son of Ayman Nofal, the former commander of Hamas’s Central Gaza Brigade.
The IDF says Nofal was a Hamas terrorist who participated in the October 7 onslaught and was involved in rocket fire on Israel amid the war.
According to Palestinian media, the strike took place on Thursday. His father, Ayman, was killed by Israel in October.
Separately, an overnight strike in Deir al-Balah killed a Hamas operative, the IDF says. “During the attack, secondary explosions were identified which indicated the presence of weapons in the area,” it says.
More than 50 other strikes were carried out in Gaza over the past day, targeting cells of gunmen, buildings used by terror groups, observation posts, and other infrastructure, according to the military.
Fighting also continues in southern Gaza’s Rafah and in the Netzarim Corridor in the Strip’s center.
In Rafah, the IDF says troops killed several gunmen and destroyed sites used by terror groups, and in central Gaza, troops killed several more armed cells and demolished a Hamas weapons depot.
