Poll: Most Israelis don’t think Israel’s security is one of Trump’s main considerations
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA poll by the Israel Democracy Institute finds that most Israelis don’t think their country’s security is one of US President Donald Trump’s main considerations.
The finding comes more than three months after the US and Israel jointly launched a war against Iran, and as Trump’s staff negotiates an agreement with the Islamic Republic that has sparked anxiety among Israeli officials.
The poll, taken between May 31 and June 5 and released today, finds that just 41 percent of Israeli Jews, and 44% of Israelis overall, believe that Israel’s security is one of Trump’s main considerations to a very or fairly large extent. The figure among Israeli Jews represents a sharp drop from 64% in May and is the lowest figure recorded since IDI began asking the question in November 2024, when Trump won the US presidential election.
The poll finds that majorities of Israeli Jews (54%), and Israelis overall (51%), believe that Trump is prioritizing Israeli security to a very or fairly small extent.
The poll also finds that only 27% of Israeli Jews believe an agreement between the US and Iran will weaken the Iranian regime, considered one of the war’s central goals.
The poll includes more than 750 respondents and has a 3.57% margin of error.
