Security forces searching for driver in checkpoint hit-and-run

Police are searching the Jerusalem area for a driver who rammed an officer at a checkpoint before fleeing the scene.

In a statement, police say the driver began to “drive wildly” when asked to pull over at the Beitar Illit checkpoint. He then hit and injured an officer before driving off.

According to paramedics, the officer was taken to Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem with moderate injuries.

Police say the incident is under investigation.
