Sharon’s funeral song: ‘Mother Earth’

Ariel Sharon’s family requested that singer Miki Gavrielov sing his contemplative ballad “Mother Earth” at the former premier’s funeral this afternoon.

The song describes the warm embrace of earth, and will be sung before Sharon’s body is placed in the ground.

The song includes lines such as, “She will take me to her when I call her name, Mother Earth… / She will embrace me to her in a warm breath, Mother Earth.”

At the Knesset ceremony this morning, singer Sarit Hadad will perform Naomi Shemer’s ballad “We are both from the same village.”
