Thousands of Hasidic Jews protest ‘desecration’ of Arad synagogue
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThousands of Gur Hasidic Jews gather in Jerusalem to protest the “desecration” of a synagogue in Arad.
Israel National News says the protest, which is the third of its kind in three days, stems from ongoing friction between the Gur community in Arad and the city’s mayor Nissan Ben Hamo, who is a member of the Yesh Atid party.
According to INN, the Gur community says Yesh Atid activists have been operating outside the synagogue on Shabbat, disturbing the worshipers inside.
The earlier protests took place in Bnei Brak on Tuesday and in Ashdod yesterday.
