World Health Organization urges Gaza assistance

The World Health Organization urges the international community to assist the Palestinian Authority financially, due to “the collapse of the health system in Gaza resulting from the escalation of violence.”

“The situation in Gaza is critical,” a WHO employee writes, adding that there are only enough medical supplies in the Strip to last for an additional 10 days.

The WHO report states that the Gaza Strip suffers from a water shortage, and that medical employees have not received their paychecks in months. Many medical units have stopped showing up for work, the report adds.

The PA is over $253 million in debt, according to the report.
