A former activist for Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman’s party claimed Thursday that the Yisrael Beytenu chief once offered him $100,000 to murder a police superintendent, operated a Jericho casino whose proceeds benefited terror organizations, and engaged in other illicit dealings.

Police officials declared the allegations “odd,” and Liberman, dismissing them, vowed to sue.

Yossi Kamisa made the allegations on Twitter in a series of posts, alleging various criminal activities by Liberman, including the supposed hit offer, the casino scheme, as well as secret business dealings in Congo. He also claimed Liberman’s ostensible connections to former attorney general Yehuda Weinstein had helped him evade the law in various criminal cases.

Kamisa identified himself as Liberman’s former assistant, though there was no evidence to support that claim either.

The wild claims led the finance minister to comment on Facebook that he planned to sue Kamisa for libel, saying the allegations were the “baseless” claims of “a bizarre person.”

Liberman went on to assert that the online assault had in fact been orchestrated by opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who he said was “panicked” by the minister’s achievements and improving poll numbers ahead of November’s elections.

Meanwhile, police officials told Channel 12 news that the claims were “odd, bordering on the outlandish.” The network reported that the allegations were being looked at by officials in the state prosecution, but that barring any evidence being brought forth, Kamisa’s claims were unlikely to lead to any serious examination.
