Canadian Jewish comedian and self-proclaimed germophobe Howie Mandel cracked last week that despite Ebola’s arrival in New York City, he’s not concerned about contracting the deadly virus.

Speaking on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael” on Friday, Mandel said that despite his mysophobia, he believed the hysteria surrounding Ebola was unwarranted.

“I think it’s ridiculous. There are more Jews in the NFL than people have died from Ebola in this country!” he quipped. “You can’t get it!”

There has been one documented death from the Ebola virus in the United States, whereas there are no fewer than 10 Jewish football players active in the 2014 season.

“We can’t get it, we’re never gonna get it,” he said. “If I’m ok, you’re ok.”
