A Palestinian Authority radio station has broadcast a message of hope that looked forward to a time when Israel will be no more and “Palestine will be Palestine again.”
The Voice of Palestine, which operates under the auspices of the PA-controlled Palestinian Broadcast Authority, transmitted the message on August 8, the watchdog Palestinian Media Watch reported on Tuesday.
A translation of the broadcast by PMW quoted the radio announcer as saying, “Greetings to all our listeners and happy holiday to you, our people in occupied Palestine (i.e., Israel), 1948 Palestine, the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel, created in 1948)… Greetings to our people in Acre, Nazareth, Tiberias, Haifa and Jaffa (all Israeli cities)… May your Palestinian identity be rooted in your hearts and minds. Allah willing, one day Palestine will be Palestine again!”
By calling Israel “occupied Palestine,” PA radio implicitly recognizes Israel’s existence, while explicitly denying Israel’s right to exist,” PMW charged. “The statement on official PA radio that ‘one day Palestine will be Palestine again’ expresses hope and anticipation that the State of Israel will be replaced by ‘Palestine.'”
Earlier this month PMW reported that a PA television quiz listed Israeli locations such as Jaffa, the Sea of Galilee, the Hula Lake, Ashdod, Mount Meron and Safed as being Palestinian cities.
