Police score major heroin bust on Egypt border
NIS 1,000,000 worth of drugs uncovered in vehicle attempting to exit Israel at the Taba crossing

Police and members of the Customs Unit carried out a successful operation Friday to thwart the smuggling of 18.8 kilograms of heroin from Israel across the Egyptian border.
The drugs were estimated to be worth over NIS 1,000,000 (about $280,000), Ynet reported.
The drugs were found in the car of two Bedouin residents of the northern Negev, on the outskirts of Beersheba, after the two were pulled over by police at the Taba border crossing into Egypt.
The two were arrested, and were transferred to the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court, where police are expected to request that the suspects be remanded until the end of procedures.
