Police suspect bride fled with groom to West Bank after raid on wedding
Woman believed to violate house arrest after her betrothed, suspected of illegal possession of weapons, ran away from authorities at ceremony

Police suspect that a woman violated house arrest to escape to the West Bank with her fiance, according to Hebrew media reports Tuesday, after police raided their wedding in the Lower Galilee town of Arraba in an effort to arrest him.
Officers arrived at the couple’s wedding on Sunday to arrest the groom — who is suspected of illegally possessing a weapon — for violating a restraining order to stay out of the town.
Officials said the bride and several other people were suspected of helping the groom flee the event as police came to detain him.
The wife-to-be was taken for questioning, then released to house arrest. An Israel Police Northern District official told Channel 12 news that officers believe she has now fled with the groom to the West Bank.
A police investigation into their whereabouts is underway, according to the report.
The couple’s lawyer, Shadi Dabbah told the network the bride’s arrest was “unnecessary.”

“It was possible with the use of intelligence to know where the groom was and arrest him, instead of causing conflicts and making a mess during a wedding,” Dabbah said.
