Ten Georgian nationals who were arrested in Egypt on suspicion that they were conducting a porn shoot near a Red Sea resort town have been released, with authorities saying the incident was due to a misunderstanding.
The Georgians were apprehended on Giftun Island, a short boat ride from Hurghada, one of Egypt’s main resorts, while they were filming for “Top Gogo” (Top Girl), a reality show in the former Soviet republic based on the lives of top models.
“These tourists were diving and shooting the beautiful aquatic flora and fauna. The security officer had wrongly assessed the situation due to his inexperience,” the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism said.
According to news website The Commentator, the Georgians were conducting a “swimwear photoshoot” when they were apprehended.
The Georgian ambassador to Egypt said Monday that the group was arrested on Saturday and released the same day and were able to continue their work.

“The incident is over now,” he said. “Police of Hurghada officially apologized, while the crew continues working in Hurghada.”
We can't do this work alone.
The war with Iran has been draining for all of us in Israel. But when I heard about a high casualty incident – ballistic missile impacts in Arad and Dimona that left nearly 200 people wounded – I drank a cup of coffee, packed a bag, and headed south.
There, I spoke with Shilgit, the head of an after-school program for underprivileged youth. Standing outside her destroyed center, Shilgit said it was a miracle that no children were hurt and spoke about the community coming together in the hours since.
As a Times of Israel reporter, I’m committed to telling stories of resilience like Shilgit’s. But my colleagues and I can't do this alone.
