Carrying a stretcher is hardly rocket science: lift, walk and don’t drop it. One Israeli soccer player learned the hard way what happens when that simple procedure goes wrong.

Maccabi Ahi Nazareth midfielder Moamen Saleh was injured during Saturday’s game against Maccabi Herzliya. Grimacing in pain on the field, the stretcher-bearers marched out and helped him onto it.

Within seconds of lifting Saleh off the ground, the medical assistant bringing up the rear lost his grip and dropped the stretcher, plunking Saleh on the ground.

Ahi Nazareth captain Amjad Sliman came to his teammate’s aid, lifted him up “like a baby,” as a TV commentator remarked, and brought him to the sideline.

“That’s embarrassing, embarrassing, embarrassing,” the commentator said. “An amusing incident, but definitely embarrassing.”

Nazareth ended up beating Herzliya 1-0 in the National League (Israel’s second division) game.
