That’s not an IS flag, they’re sex toys

A CNN report mistaking a sex toy banner for the Islamic State flag at a London pride parade Saturday earned the media outlet ridicule from online news sources and social media users.

During the segment, Lucy Pawle, CNN’s London correspondent, told the anchor she witnessed a man “waving what appears to be a very bad mimicry but very clear attempt to mimic the ISIS flag, the black-and-white flag with the distinctive lettering,” she said live on air.

While the flag’s coloring and shape bears some similarity to the infamous black and white flag of the terror organization, the flag waved during Saturday’s parade was actually a celebration of sex toys.

The white sex toys were arranged on a black background to look like the lettering on the jihadist flag.

During a four-minute segment billed by the media giant as an exclusive, correspondents discussed how the jihadist group infiltrated the London pride march, and even lined up one of its top security analysts, Peter Bergen, to discuss the sighting.

Pawle, who proudly said that she was “the only person who has spotted this,” hasn’t commented on the mistake, although she did retweet some of the reactions to the mix-up.
