A two-year-old boy in Haifa was shot in the leg and arrived in hospital in moderate condition on Sunday.

Police were investigating the incident

The parents of the toddler, from the Arab neighborhood of Wadi Nisnas, brought him to Rambam hospital after he sustained the bullet wound.

The boy was recovering in hospital after being operated on to remove the bullets, a hospital spokesperson said Sunday. The hospital also said that “the toddler is currently in the hands of the welfare authorities.”

Police suspect that a family member accidentally discharged a weapon, shooting the boy.

His parents were detained and police were searching for the weapon.
