Two suspects arrested after widow of Christian leader found dead in Jaffa home
Fadia Kadis’s husband was killed during a 2012 Christmas parade by an assassin in a Santa Claus costume
Police investigating the murder of the widow of a Christian leader in Jaffa arrested two suspects overnight and on Friday morning.
Fadia Kadis (52) was found in her Jaffa home on Thursday evening, apparently stabbed to death a few hours earlier.
Investigators believe that at least one of the 18-year-old suspects was known to Kadis as there were no signs of a break-in at the upscale house.
Friends of the victim told Israeli media that they do not think that Kadis’ death is linked to any of the recent murders in Jaffa.
A gag order prevents the publication of any further identifying details of the suspects.
In December 2012, Kadis’ husband Gaby, chairman of the Christian Orthodox Association in Jaffa, was killed by an assassin dressed as Santa Claus during a Christmas parade.
Doris Hifawi, a friend of the family, told the Walla news site that after her husband’s murder, Fadia wanted to “break away from the world” and spend time with her family: “She was a happy grandmother and wanted nothing more,” explained Hifawi.
