Assailants on Thursday fired at a convoy of Austrian UN peacekeepers at an airport near Damascus, wounding two soldiers, Austria’s Defense Ministry said.
The Austrian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the injuries sustained by the soldiers were not life-threatening.
The statement added that it was unclear whether the shots were fired by rebels or military forces.

The revolt in Syria started as peaceful protests but turned into a civil war after brutal crackdowns on dissent by Assad’s forces. Activists say more than 40,000 people have been killed in almost two years of fighting.
