This week on Joan Rivers’ e-talk show “In Bed With Joan” is Reza Farahan, of “Shahs of Sunset” semi-fame.
For those unfamiliar with “Shahs,” the thickly mustachioed Farahan has an unusual background, which he immediately shares with in the above clip.
“My dad’s a Jew, and my mom’s a Muslim,” he announces the very instant he pops out of Joan’s closet (literally) and hops into her bed. “And I’m a homo — in bed with a Russian Jew!”
There are many more fun facts to be had. We learn that Farahan is circumcised, eats pork, doesn’t like “hard-core Muslims,” does like the word homo, and calls himself Persian and not Iranian because most Americans annoyingly pronounce it “Eye-ranian.”
The biggest takeaway, though, is that “Shahs” would be exponentially better if it was all Reza, all the time. That guy is entertaining!

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
