A cross-dressing, mentally disturbed ultra-Orthodox man arrived at the Western Wall on Tuesday, dressed as a female member of an extreme Jewish cult that places its emphasis on modesty, with the intent of praying on the women’s side of the wall.

According to a report in the popular religious web forum Behadrei Haredim, the man was stopped by security — who saw through his costume due to his deep voice and beard.

When asked about his strange actions, the man answered he was troubled by the ongoing security situation in the south of Israel. He said he wanted to pray in the women’s section for the well being of those under rocket fire.

While an eyewitness told the ultra-Orthodox website “it was amusing to watch a mentally deranged person argue for something he truly believed in,” the guards took the matter seriously and handed the man over to police for further questioning.
