2 people were killed and several more injured in a spate of road accidents in Israel on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, Mordechai Golan, 60, of Kiryat Haim next to Haifa, was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a tractor making an illegal U-turn near the entrance of Karmiel on Saturday. Two other motorcyclists were injured in the accident.

On Saturday night, a 23 year-old woman was hit by a bus while she was walking in south Tel Aviv.  She was brought to Ichilov hospital where she died of her wounds.

Another pedestrian, a 19 year-old male was struck by a private car near the Bedouin village of Segev Shalom, southeast of Beersheba. He was brought to Beersheba’s Soroka Hospital, where according to Maariv he  underwent surgery on Saturday night.

In the Lower Galilee village of Sakhnin, a two-and-a-half year-old girl was accidentally run over by her grandfather. She was brought to ehe Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya where she was listed in moderate to serious condition.

A 15 year-old boy was seriously injured in a car accident near Moshav Masuot Yitzhak in the south. He was brought to Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital.

Traffic accidents have long been considered Israel’s biggest killer. Through February, 53 people were killed in on Israeli roads in 2012 according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, and in 2011, 341 people were killed and 1,324 seriously injured .
