US condemns ‘cowardly’ Gaza rocket fire
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland urges all parties to exercise restraint to prevent an escalation of the situation

The US on Wednesday strongly condemned the barrage of rocket fire, ongoing since Monday night, from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
“As we have said many times, there is no justification for the targeting of innocent civilians and call on those responsible to take immediate action to stop these cowardly acts,” read a statement issued by State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland.
Nuland cautioned against a further escalation of the situation and urged all parties to exercise restraint.
