A masked man opened fire Saturday at a group of young men in a parking lot near the Damoon Prison compound, near the northern city of Haifa, seriously wounding four.
The assailant fled the scene shortly after the attack, according to witnesses.
An emergency medical team that arrived at the scene of the shooting rushed two of the men to the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa for treatment of severe wounds, while the other two, who suffered slightly lighter injuries, were evacuated to the Rambam Medical Center in the city.
The four injured men — all in their mid-to-late twenties — are residents of the Druze village of Usfiya.
Police launched an investigation into the shooting and began searching the area for the attacker, Ynet reported. The assailant’s identity as well as details leading up to the shooting were not yet clear.

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
