A double serving of suspense and intrigue is on the menu for “Homeland” fans, as the season 4 premiere of the nail-biting drama will feature two back-to-back episodes on October 5.
The smash hit program, from Israeli creator Gideon Raff and based loosely on its Israeli predecessor “Hatufim” (Prisoners of War) left fans spinning at the conclusion of Season 3 in late 2013.
No spoilers here, but that season’s wrap-up made fans wonder if the storyline of a passionate, bipolar CIA agent could be threaded into another season. Its creators were convinced it could, and have been filming in South Africa for several months.
Much of the second season of “Homeland” was filmed here in Israel, with stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis becoming fixtures in Tel Aviv’s nightlife scene. Season 3 was also slated to be filmed in Israel, but that plan was scrapped in light of ongoing conflicts in Syria.
The season 4 trailer, released by Showtime, places Carrie Mathison in Pakistan and promises plenty of the twists and turns that fans have come to expect from the program:
