After a year and a half of court hearings, Israel’s state prosecutor has closed its case against Roey Hayun, one of the founders of the 24option.com binary options website.

Hayun’s home had been raided by Israeli police in August 2021, with millions of dollars worth of assets seized, including his home, several luxury vehicles, cash and jewelry.

At the time, Israeli police said they suspected Hayun of laundering over $65 million of fraud proceeds from the 24option.com website.

In a letter sent to Hayun’s attorney on April 25, state prosecutor Amit Levin wrote, “After a pretrial hearing in front of the director of the state prosecutor’s cyberunit, Haim Wismonsky, and after negotiations over the past several months, it has been decided to close the case against you.”

Israel police have now reportedly unfrozen Hayun’s bank accounts and returned millions of dollars of real estate, cars and jewelry to him.

Roey Zweig, a Justice Ministry spokesman, declined to explain why the charges were dropped, writing in an email, “The reason for closing a case is not publicized to the media except in cases involving sexual or grievous violent crimes.”
