Israeli vehicle detection system wins prestigious CES prize
Innovative QuadSight system that boasts near 100% obstacle detection in self-driving cars to be featured at annual Las Vegas tech show
An Israeli company developing automotive obstacle detection systems has been named a 2019 Consumer Electronics Show Innovation Award honoree in the vehicle intelligence and self-driving technology category.
A statement from Foresight Autonomous Holdings on Friday said its innovative QuadSight system would be on display at the annual tech conference in Las Vegas in January early next year.
According to Foresight, the quad-camera vision system can deliver near 100% obstacle detection in semi-autonomous and autonomous vehicles under any weather or lighting conditions, including complete darkness, rain, haze or fog.
The vision system uses four cameras — two stereoscopic infrared cameras and two visible light cameras — with advanced image processing algorithms.
“Developing safe autonomous vehicles is one of the great technical challenges of our time, and it demands innovation in all aspects of design and implementation,” said Foresight’s Haim Siboni in the statement, and thanked judges for recognizing QuadSight.
Each year, thousands of tech and digital media start-ups descend on Las Vegas to showcase their latest innovations at the annual conference. CES 2019 will be held from January 8-11 and will showcase more than 4,500 companies including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content and technology delivery systems.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, 22 Israeli companies are set to showcase their innovations there in robotics, vehicle technology, e-commerce and artificial intelligence.
