A-G urged to indict radical activist who backs burning churches
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleZionist Union party Knesset Member Nachman Shai is calling for a radical right-wing leader to be put on trial for incitement, after he publicly advocated the burning of churches in Israel.
Shai says Bentzi Gopshtain’s statements Tuesday were “clear-cut, unambiguous” incitement and is calling on Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to press charges against Gopshtain.
Gopshtain is the head of the right-wing Lehava group, which opposes Jewish-Arab integration.
Asked during a panel on Jewish religious law if he supported burning churches as advocated by 12th century Jewish sage Maimonides, Gopshtain answered “Of course I do.”
