Collapse of weapons treaty would lead to new ‘arms race’: Putin
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleRussian President Vladimir Putin says that a collapse of arms control treaties will lead to a new arms race after US leader Donald Trump promised to jettison a key Cold War-era treaty.
Putin says if the United States abandons a nuclear treaty known as the INF and refuses to renew an agreement known as the New START then the “situation would be extremely dangerous.” “There would be nothing left except an arms race,” he says.
