From Due to holiday closures, Israel missing deadline to quit UNESCO
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIsrael will be missing the deadline to pull out of UNESCO, as the UN’s cultural agency’s offices will remain closed until after the holidays.
To quit the UN body by the end of 2018, Israel was supposed to submit its withdrawal by the end of 2017. However, the offices will remain shut until after New Year’s.
“Even if I need to climb the fence, I’m still at the right age and in shape to do so,” Israel’s envoy to the agency, Carmel Shama-Hacohen tells Hadashot news, indicating Israel was still working to resolve the issue.
