Egypt shuts Gaza crossing after letting pilgrims return home
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleEgyptian authorities have closed the Rafah border crossing after opening it one way over the weekend to allow pilgrims returning from hajj in Saudi Arabia to return home, the Ma’an news agency reports.
A total of 474 pilgrims came back into Gaza via the crossing on Saturday and earlier Sunday, according to the report.
Officials will reopen the crossing for several days starting Wednesday to let more pilgrims return, but those seeking to leave the Strip will not be able to, Ma’an reports.
