The funeral procession for 13-year-old Hallel Yaffe Ariel is taking place, hours after she was murdered in her bed in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba.
He father recites kaddish (Jewish mourners’ prayer) in the family’s front yard, while her mother cries over her body. After the prayers, the group of several dozen mourners begins walking toward the Old Hebron Cemetery, where she is to be laid to rest.
The procession moves to the courtyard of a local school where family and members of the community are to speak. Hundreds of mourners turn out at the school, among them Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel and Education Minister Naftali Bennett.
