The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation says it is prepared to continue delivering food to Palestinians through its aid mechanism in the Gaza Strip amid escalated security tensions following Israel’s overnight strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites.
“The last 24 hours in Israel and the Middle East have tested the resolve and challenged emergency food delivery to the Palestinians in Gaza, but the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is prepared,” writes GHF in an operational update.
Following reports of the Iran attack this morning, the foundation says it “was successful in quickly delivering” 35,520 boxes of aid to Gazans. “We had additional trucks ready to unload and deliver, but we were ordered to stand down. We have asked the IDF to facilitate the ongoing delivery of aid as soon as possible,” reads the update.
The US- and Israeli-backed foundation says each box contains meals for 5.5 people for 3.5 days.
GHF says it hopes “that a resolution to current international events unfolds soon and we can start up food delivery again.”
“We wish to express our thanks to the US people and President Trump for their support during this extremely complex and high-risk operation,” the statement adds.
The update does not include further information on the status of local GHF workers, whom the group alleged were attacked by Hamas on Wednesday night, killing eight and injuring 21, and who the group said were transferred to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis yesterday.
