Give Iran diplomacy a chance, Europeans urge Congress
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleTop European diplomats wade into the political fray in Washington over Iran, urging US lawmakers to hold off on new sanctions and pleading for time to allow nuclear talks to succeed.
“Maintaining pressure on Iran through our existing sanctions is essential,” four European foreign policy chiefs warn in a joint op-ed in the Washington Post.
“But introducing new hurdles at this critical stage of the negotiations, including through additional nuclear-related sanctions legislation on Iran, would jeopardize our efforts at a critical juncture.”
