US President Joe Biden calls for an end to political violence after gunfire erupted at Republican challenger Donald Trump’s political rally in Pennsylvania earlier, saying in televised remarks that the former president appears to be doing well.

“There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick,” Biden says, adding that he has been thoroughly briefed on the matter and plans to talk to Trump. “Everybody must condemn it.”

Biden says he is waiting for additional information before formally calling the attack an attempted assassination. “I have an opinion, but i don’t have any facts,” he tells reporters, pledging to provide updates as he learns more.

The president also pledges to update the public later on whether they speak as well as additional details about the investigation.
