Japan FM says no plans to move embassy to Jerusalem

Japan’s Foreign Minister Taro Kono holds talks with his Jordanian counterpart, telling him the Asian nation has no plans to move its embassy to Jerusalem.

In Amman, a day after visiting Israel, Kono says longstanding US ally Japan will not be shifting its diplomatic mission to Jerusalem, Kono is reported by the Petra state news agency as saying, adding that the the city’s status should be decided at negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians..

Jordanian foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also says the status of the city should be decided “through direct negotiations and according to the relevant international resolutions.”
