June records all-time high for real estate purchases

Over 16,000 properties were bought across Israel in June, breaking the record for the highest number of real estate transactions in the Jewish state in one month, Israel Radio reports.

The previous record was set in December 2013.

According to the Finance Ministry, the property boom was caused by an unusually high volume of apartments purchased for investment purposes, in light of an impending increase in tax rates on second home purchases.

June registered a 42% increase in property sales over May.
