A Hezbollah operative, who is known to Israeli security forces, hurled a Molotov cocktail from Lebanon at the Israeli border, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
The reports say the firebomb caused damage to water infrastructure near the northern town of Metulla.
Israeli troops reportedly fired warning shots in response.
A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces says the army will officially comment on the incident shortly.
