Netanyahu hails US ties, says Israel should be home for all Jews

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praises Israel’s ties with the United States, during a conference of American Jewish federations in Tel Aviv, saying support for Israel in the US has grown dramatically in the past 20 years, from 47 percent to 72%.

The premier says the egalitarian plaza at the Western Wall will be renovated as promised, as part a compromise deal between Orthodox and non-Orthodox Jewry regarding the Jerusalem holy site.

While noting that the deal itself is suspended, Netanyahu tells the Jewish federations of North America’s General Assembly in Tel Aviv that he wants Israel to be a home for “every Jew” — whether Reform, Conservative, or Orthodox.

Regarding the Trump administration’s yet-unpublished peace plan, he says that, while Palestinians can be allowed to govern themselves, they cannot have the capability to harm Israel, adding that only Israel will be in charge of security in the West Bank.
