Netanyahu: We are continuing to strike Hezbollah, goal in talks is ‘historic peace agreement’ with Lebanon

Israel is continuing to attack Hezbollah, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says in a video message to residents of northern Israel after his office announced that Israel would be holding direct talks with Lebanon soon.

“There is no ceasefire in Lebanon,” says Netanyahu. “We continue to strike Hezbollah with great force, and we will not stop until we restore your security.”

“Our significant achievements both in Iran and against the axis of evil have brought about a historic change in Israel’s standing in the region,” he continues. “They have also led to changes in our relations with countries we did not have relations with before.”

He says that direct talks with Lebanon will have two goals — the disarming of Hezbollah, and a “historic and sustainable peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon.”
